Luke Wright is returning to Melbourne Stars as batting coach for the ninth edition of the Big Bash.
Wright, who played 57 times for the Stars between 2011 and 2018, scored 1,479 runs for #TeamGreen and will now link up with his former side again in January.
Our Vitality Blast skipper joins Head Coach David Hussey, Trent Woodhill, Clint McKay, Jarrad Loughman, Michael Beer and David Reid on the coaching staff.
Speaking to the Stars, Wright said: "I’ve missed being a part of the Stars group last season so when the opportunity came up to be involved as batting coach, I jumped at it.
"I’m really looking forward to working with Huss and helping a really exciting and talented bunch of players prepare for the matches. I can’t wait to get started."
Wright added: "I'm so excited for this opportunity to be back with the Stars. I am certainly still carrying on my playing career but this was something I couldn't turn down to work for such a special team that is so close to my heart."
Wright played for the Stars in the inaugural Big Bash in 2011, and never looked back. His number of appearances and runs is a Stars record.
Just week's into BBL|01, he hit a stunning 117 against Hobart Hurricanes, which until BBL|05 was the highest score in Big Bash history.
The explosive batsman scored his second Stars century - an unbeaten 109* - in the derby against Melbourne Renegades in 2016, while he also took six wickets during his Big Bash career, with best figures of 1-7.
