Laurie Evans’ Caribbean Premier League (CPL) got off to a winning start as his St Kitts and Nevis Patriots pulled off a mammoth chase against Jamaica Tallawahs at Basseterre.
After Jamaica had posted what appeared to be a monster 241 for 4 from their 20 overs, Laurie contributed 41 from 20 balls as the Patriots reached their target six down and with seven balls to spare
Chris Gayle had made 116 from 62 balls and Chadwick Walton 73 off 36 balls for Jamaica, while – alongside Laurie – Devon Thomas (71 off 40), Evin Lewis (53 off 18) and Fabian Allen (37* off 15) were the major contributors for St Kitts and Nevis.
Laurie and the Patriots are next in action against Barbados Tridents on Wednesday night.
