Danni Wyatt top-scored for England in the team’s second and final warm-up before the start of their ODI series against New Zealand.
The opener made 54 from just 42 balls as England lost by 30 runs against a New Zealand XI at Queenstown.
The hosts racked up an imposing 316 for 5 batting first, with Danni’s Sussex teammate Freya Davies taking the wicket of the New Zealand XI captain, Katie Perkins, and finishing with 1 for 65 from her eight overs.
Danni and fellow opener Tammy Beaumont made an encouraging start to England’s chase, putting on 64 together inside the opening nine overs.
Thereafter, the fall of regular wickets put New Zealand XI in charge and England – using 13 batters – eventually finished on 286 all out in 49.3 overs.
The first ODI of a three match series begins in Christchurch on Tuesday 23rd February.
