In this latest outing, Travis was one of six batsmen to pass 50 at the Adelaide Oval, as South Australia made 482 for 8 declared having won the toss and elected to bat first. Former Sussex overseas, Alex Carey, top scored with 125.
New South Wales replied with 366 for 7 declared, before South Australia put on 178 for 6 declared in their second innings to set their visitors 295 for victory.
Thanks largely to a 141-run fourth wicket partnership between Moises Henriques and Sean Abbott, New South Wales completed their chase late on the final evening.
It is expected that Travis will join Sussex after the conclusion of an Australian domestic season extended as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Sheffield Shield regular season is due to finish on Wednesday 7th April, with the final between the top two sides taking place between Thursday 15th and Sunday 18th April.
After six matches and with two fixtures to come South Australia are winless bottom of the six-team table.
South Australia’s final regular season match in the one-day competition - the Marsh Cup – is scheduled for Wednesday 7th April with the final set for Sunday 11th April. The side have been beaten in their two matches to date, with three games of the regular season to play.
South Australia are next in action on Friday (12th March) in a Marsh Cup meeting with Tasmania at St. Kilda.
