When David came into bat at number four, the Qalandars required an improbable 35 from 16 balls. Three fours and three sixes later, the all-rounder had smashed his side past their target of 187 with four balls still to spare! Typically, it was with consecutive sixes that David made it three wins from four for the Qalandars in the tournament. Remarkably, Lahore’s triumph was the eleventh occasion in eleven matches that the side chasing has won in this year’s PSL.
Earlier in the match, David took the wicket of Karachi opener, Sharjeel Khan, but his four overs cost 42 runs as the Kings made 186 for 9.
On Friday, the Qalandars had lost to Multan Sultans by seven wickets. David made 13 from eight balls as his side posted 157 for 6 and bowled one over for eight runs as the Sultans cruised home with 22 balls to spare.
The team sit in second place in the table, level on points with Peshawar Zalmi who have also won three of their four matches so far. Sussex’s Ravi Bopara has not featured for the Zalmi since scoring a half-century in their opening fixture.
Phil Salt’s Islamabad United lost their match against Peshawar on Saturday by six-wickets, with the Sussex batsman falling for nine batting at number three, but taking two catches behind the stumps.
United are back in action today (Monday) and provide the opposition for the Qalandars in their next fixture on Thursday. Peshawar Zalmi’s next match is against Karachi Kings on Wednesday.
