Trademark accurate death bowling from Chris Jordan helped his Caribbean Premier League side Trinbago Knight Riders beat St Kitts & Nevis Patriots by six wickets in the tournament’s eliminator.
CJ’s Sussex teammate Laurie Evans was the Patriots’ top-scorer with 55 from 47 balls. No other player passed 14, however, as the team were restricted to 125 for 7 from their 20 overs. Jordan bowled the 16th, 18th and 20th over, picking up two wickets and conceding 24 runs. He gave away just four from the final over to finish with figures of 3 for 30 from his allocation.
The Knight Riders lost three early wickets during their chase, but a Lendl Simmons half-century was followed by a blistering nine-ball 26 for Kieron Pollard as Trinbago made it home with eight balls to spare.
They will play Barbados Tridents on Friday for a place in Saturday’s final against Guyana Amazon Warriors.
