Sussex's Jofra Archer recorded the best bowling figures of his short T20I career as England lost to India by eight runs at Ahmedabad on Thursday to level the five match series at 2-2.
With England winning the toss and bowling first, Jofra caught Indian opener Rohit Sharma of his own bowling during a two-over spell with the new ball. He then returned to dismiss Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Washington Sundar at the death to finish with figures of 4 for 33 from his four overs.
That eclipsed Jofra's previous best figures in T20Is of 3 for 23 from the opening match of the series. He also took a catch at mid off off the bowling of Ben Stokes to get rid of KL Rahul.
Jofra's Sussex teammate, Chris Jordan bowled four wicketless overs for 41 runs as India posted 185 for 8 from their 20 overs.
CJ & Jofra put on 24 together for the ninth wicket as they tried to heave England over the line during the chase, but despite Jofra smashing an unbeaten 18 of 8 deliveries in his maiden innings in T20Is, England were restricted to 177 for 8. CJ made 12 off 9 ball before being caught in the deep of the penultimate ball of the innings.
