Sussex’s Ben Brown and Tom Haines have been named in both BBC Sport’s and Wisden’s County Championship teams of the year.
The BBC Sport team was chosen by users of the BBC Sport website and app. Ben and Tom were among the eleven most-selected players in the more than 15,000 teams selected.
Tom was selected by 58% of users who voted to open the batting in the team of the year, with 51% choosing Ben Brown in the middle-order.
The Wisden team was chosen by its writers. Tom was lauded for topping the Championship’s run scorers list and “his 155 against Lancashire in the opening round of the season was one of the knocks of the summer.” Ben was described as “one of the most consistent run-scorers in the county game over the past six or so years and with a record like his, he can count himself unlucky to have never been included in an England Test squad.”
Tom was also included in Wisden’s Under-24 team of the 2021 County Championship.
