Our opponents
Middlesex travel to Hove in good nick following a 10-wicket victory over Leicestershire last week, having beaten Glamorgan in 3 days the week prior, and now sit third in division 2.
Much of their success early on this season has been down to the pace bowling of Pakistan international Shaheen Afridi. Afridi didn’t feature in their opening match against Derbyshire but took 4 wickets against Glamorgan, before following up with 6 more against Leicestershire.
Speaking after their latest victory, Middlesex captain Peter Handscomb said: There is a lot to like at the moment. The last two games the ruthlessness of the team has been incredible and giving the opposition nothing.
“The fact we've won the last two games in three days, pretty much only had to bat once and bowled the house down is very pleasing.”
Injury news
Steve Finn will not feature against his old club as he continues to recover from inflammation to his knee.
Jack Carson, Jofra Archer, Fynn Hudson-Prentice, and Dan Ibrahim all remain sidelined as they continue their rehabilitation programmes.
Salisbury’s comments
“It is great to welcome back three highly talented bowlers such as Garton, Robinson and Hunt. We still have to be patient with all three as they haven’t played any competitive cricket this year, but I am delighted to be able to select them for my squad.
“For me, the signs are looking promising. In our first couple of games we only really managed to perform how we should for two days, but last week we had three great days and put ourselves in a position to win the match.
On Middlesex and Afridi, Salisbury commented: “Middlesex will be tough opponents, but it’s an exciting challenge, and one that the boys are relishing. It will be great to see Riz battle it out with his international teammate Afridi, both are two of the world’s finest cricketers, so I am looking forward to the game.
On the ground he added: “Once again Ben and his team have done a superb job, the ground looks beautiful and the wicket is a proper batting wicket, so we should get four days of fantastic County Cricket.”
