Sussex’s Ollie Robinson has been named in a 17-player squad for England’s upcoming Ashes tour of Australia.
The series will take place between 8th December and 18th January, with the first Test to be hosted at the Gabba.
The call-up caps a remarkable 2021 for the pace bowler who made his England debut in June against New Zealand. He was also a key figure in the recent test match series against India, where he took his first five-wicket haul at Trent Bridge.
All 17 players selected by Chris Silverwood have been capped at Test level and is the strongest available squad to him. Ten of the 17 will be touring Australia in an Ashes series for the first time, including Robinson.
After naming the squad, Silverwood said: "A tour of Australia is the pinnacle as an England Test cricketer. I am delighted that all of our available players have committed to the tour. We are looking forward to touring and enjoying the experience of this historic series.
"This is why we play and coach to be involved in iconic series like this. More than half of our squad haven't featured in an Ashes tour before, which means we will be fresh and looking to embrace the cricket and the excitement of touring one of the best places in the world.”
