Thrilling Australian cricket fans will remain part of Jofra Archer’s winter plans for the next two years.
Having set the tournament alight in his debut season, Sussex’s 22-year-old fast-bowling sensation has extended his deal with Hobart Hurricanes to take in the 2018/19 and 2019/20 Big Bash.
Speaking to the Hurricanes’ website, Jofra said: “I’m very excited to be staying. I’ve grown to love Hobart – it’s a really nice place.
“The home supporters really make you feel welcome and they back you in. Especially that last over against the Strikers, it was one of the best atmospheres I’ve bowled in.
“The Big Bash is a really great competition to play in and to learn.”
A Sussex duo will spearhead the Hurricanes’ bowling attack for at least another season, with Tymal Mills having previously committed to the side for next year’s tournament.
Commenting on his partnership with Tymal, Jofra added: “I think it will have a big impact on the team because we can help each other on the field and we can see where each of us might need to improve.”
“So having two overseas players from the same place really helps the bond with each other and the team.”
Jofra has enjoyed a life-changing few days, after being picked up by the Rajasthan Royals in last weekend’s IPL auction for around £800,000.
Sussex supporters will be able to watch cricket’s latest superstar in action at The 1st Central County Ground for years to come.
Jofra signed a multi-year contract extension with the club at the end of the 2017 county season.
