A 14-player Sussex Sharks squad has been named for Vitality Blast Finals Day at Edgbaston on Saturday.
There is one change from the squad that travelled to Durham for the quarter-final against Yorkshire Vikings at the end of August, with the now departed Rashid Khan replaced by off-spinner Jack Carson.
The squad travelled to Birmingham on Thursday afternoon, before a final training session at Edgbaston on Friday morning.
Seven of the squad played in the Sharks’ last Finals Day appearance in 2018, when the side lost out in the final to Worcestershire Rapids. Ravi Bopara, meanwhile, won the trophy with Essex Eagles in 2019, as well as playing in four previous Finals Days for the county. Mitch Claydon, Jack Carson, Oli Carter, George Garton, Archie Lenham and Harrison Ward, however, are in line for their first appearances at county cricket’s big day out.
The Sharks are playing Kent Spitfires in the second semi-final, with a scheduled start time of 2.30pm. That will follow the day’s first semi-final between Hampshire Hawks and Somerset at 11am.
We spoke to Sussex Sharks T20 Head Coach James Kirtley for the latest updates from within the camp. Watch the interview below.
