Henry Crocombe impressed with the ball on day two of the pre-season friendly against Surrey, taking 2 wickets for just 27 runs off 10 overs.
Crocombe dismissed Rory Burns for 56 during the first session of the day and he picked up where he left off after lunch, taking the wicket of fellow Surrey opener Jamie Smith for 51.
There was also a wicket for left-arm spinner Delray Rawlins, bowling out Surrey all-rounder Will Jacks as he missed the ball charging down the wicket.
Ryan Patel provided strong resistance at number three for Surrey, reaching his century off 109 balls and finishing the day on an unbeaten 128. The visitors eventually declared on 279 at the expense of three wickets, wrapping up the first innings just after tea.
Sussex used the majority day two of the warm-up game to give match practice to their bowling attack, sharing the overs among 8 members of the young County Championship side, which included recent loan signing George Burrows, and teenager Bertie Foreman.
With an hour and a half of play remaining, Sussex returned to the middle to begin their second innings, finishing the day on 59-1. Play will resume tomorrow at 11:00am with Tom Clark on 25* and Oli Carter on 27* respectively.
Spectators are welcome to attend the third and final day of play, entry is free of charge with the Eaton Road gates opening at 09:30am on each day.
