Chris Jordan was part of the England team that recorded a 30-run win in the only T20I of their tour of Sri Lanka. Batting at number ten, CJ faced one delivery - the final ball of England’s innings – and hit Isuru Udana for two to take England to 187-8 off their 20 overs. That proved beyond Sri Lanka who were bowled out for 157, losing their final wicket off the final ball of the innings.
CJ picked up two wickets in three balls in his third over. The first saw Udana caught at mid-off by Ben Stokes, before a trademark yorker cleaned up Amila Aponso for a duck. Jordan was by far England’s most economical seamer, conceding 29 runs from his four overs. He is now England’s third leading wicket-taker in T20 history with 40, overtaking Jade Dernbach with his second wicket on Saturday.
Luke Wells made 30 from 43 balls at the top of the order for Casey-South Melbourne during their Victorian Premier Cricket encounter fifty-over match against Melbourne CC at the Albert Cricket Ground on Saturday. Skipper Wells’ runs came as Casey-South Melbourne were dismissed for 189 in 42 overs chasing the 304-2 Melbourne had made in their innings, during which Luke bowled seven wicketless overs for 39 runs.
