Sussex duo Danni Wyatt and Linsey Simith suffered heartbreak in the World T20 final on Saturday night after Australia beat them by eight wickets in Antigua.
Having won the toss, England opted to bat first but on a slow surface, runs were hard to come by and the wickets tumbled around opener Wyatt.
The Sussex star stood firm, scoring 43 off 37 balls, but her teammates struggled to get going against the Aussie bowling attack, with captain Heather Knight the only other English batter to reach double figures.
England eventually limped to 105 all out, and in just over 15 overs, Australia reached their target to claim their fourth T20 title in five editions.
Earlier in the week, Wyatt had helped England into the final with a convincing win over India. Her excellent fielding saw Radha Yadav directly run out, before Amy Jones and Nat Sciver saw their side home with eight wickets to spare.
A direct hit from @Danni_Wyatt to run out Radha Yadav was voted the @Nissan Play of the Day from the @WorldT20 semi-finals! 👏
