Chris Jordan finished his brief spell in New Zealand’s Super Smash with a 100% record from his two games for the Northern Knights. Following the previous week’s two-run victory over Auckland Aces, the Knights sneaked another tight win on Wednesday, this time over Canterbury Kings at Christchurch. CJ picked up two wickets during his four overs and finished as the Knights’ most economical seamer as Canterbury racked up 193-5 batting first. At 141-6 with four overs remaining of their reply, the Knights looked in trouble, but a 39-run seventh wicket partnership from just 15 balls between captain Daniel Flynn and CJ put the visitors back on track. CJ was the last man out having smashed 17 off eight deliveries with the Knights needing five runs to win from the last five balls. They eventually made it home with two balls to spare and CJ left New Zealand with his team at the top of the table.
A quick hop across the Tasman Sea and it was straight back to action for CJ as he began his stint with Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash. First up was the visit of Jason Gillespie’s Adelaide Strikers to the Showground Stadium on Sunday. With the Thunder defending 168-6, CJ enjoyed a dream start with the ball, picking up the wicket of Travis Head with his second ball and conceding just two runs from his opening over. In the end, he finished with 1-23 from three overs as the Strikers were bowled out for 97 in 17.4 overs.
Rashid Khan was part of that losing Strikers side. Despite the result, the leg-spinning prodigy still posted superb figures of 2-21 from his four overs. With the bat, Rashid made eight from eight balls batting at number seven.

The Strikers enjoyed a better day on Friday, beating Melbourne Stars by 41 runs at the Adelaide Oval. Promoted to number five after his eye-catching displays with the bat so far in the tournament, Rashid made 13 off 9 deliveries as the Strikers posted 178-5. Dwayne Bravo was the leg-spinner’s wicket during another excellent set of four overs. Rashid finished with 1-18 as the Stars were bowled out for 137.
After eight games, Rashid has an economy rate of just 4.9 from his 32 overs, 0.68 runs per over cheaper than his nearest rival, fellow Afghan spinner and Brisbane Heat player Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Rashid is also the tournament’s joint leading wicket-taker, with 13 scalps so far.
Jofra Archer’s Hobart Hurricanes continued their table-topping form, making it six wins from seven matches as they thumped basement side Melbourne Stars earlier today. Jofra’s 2-23 from 3.1 overs and a steepling catch saw the Stars shot out for 126 in their bid to chase down the Hurricanes’ 185-2.

Danni’s final two matches before heading home took place over the weekend. Laurie Evans made one not out for Rajshahi in that match having earlier taken two catches. He endured a bit of a tricky few days thereafter, making a duck in the Kings’ loss to Comilla Victorians on Friday and two in their win against Rangpur Riders on Sunday. He did continue to contribute in the field, however, taking a catch in both matches.

Luke Wells captained Casey-South Melbourne to a 22-run win over St Kilda in a 50-over game, with the opener making 14 at the top of the order and taking 1-42 from his allocation of ten overs.
George Garton’s Northcote CC fell to a nine-wicket defeat in their match against Melbourne CC. George – who opened the bowling - was among the most economical of Northcote’s bowlers, giving away 40 runs from nine overs having earlier been bowled for nought during his side’s innings of 251 all out.
