Winter Watch: Player of the match performance for McAndrew

3 Mar 2023

This week we reflect on a player of the match performance from new overseas signing Nathan McAndrew, as well as even more runs for Delray Rawlins. Plus, there’s a return to ODI cricket for Jofra Archer and wickets for Shadab Khan in the PSL.

Shadab Khan takes wickets in PSL

Pakistan allrounder Shadab Khan will join the Sussex Sharks this year for the entirety of the T20 Vitality Blast campaign and has been warming up by taking part in the T20 Pakistan Super League.

Khan played twice last week taking two wickets in each of the games, with his side Islamabad United currently sitting third in the group at the halfway point.

Nathan McAndrew shines in The Marsh Cup

Nathan McAndrew is another overseas player joining Sussex this season and will feature in both the LV= Insurance County Championship and the T20 Vitality Blast.

McAndrew is currently playing for his home club South Australia in The Marsh Cup, the equivalent of the domestic one-day competition here in England.

On Sunday McAndrew was awarded player of the match as he took 3-22 from his 9 overs to help South Australia to an 8 wicket victory over Victoria.

Jofra Archer takes two wickets for England

This week Jofra Archer continued his comeback on the international side taking two wickets in England’s ODI victory over Bangladesh.

England won by 3 wickets making the perfect start to their World Cup preparations as they look to defend their title in India this year.

England play Bangladesh in the second of a three-match series today, with the final game taking place on Monday 6th March.

More runs for captain Delray

Delray Rawlins made it three half-centuries on the bounce as his Bermuda side made it five wins from five in the T20 Regional World Cup Qualifiers.

Del made 59 not-out in Bermuda’s 96 run victory over the Cayman Islands, before making another unbeaten score of 67 to give the side he captains an emphatic 110 run win over Argentina.

Bermuda then made it five from five as they beat Panama by 60 runs, with Del taking 1 wicket from his 4 overs.
