Another season is over and winter is here, but that doesn’t mean the players stop. Many of the Sussex players and coaches travel around the world, playing cricket in different countries for a variety of teams and franchises, as well as representing their national teams.
This week, Sussex quartet Tom Haines, Jack Carson, Jofra Archer have all been in action in the UAE, with the England Lions helping the England Men’s team to prepare for their upcoming Test series against Pakistan.
Haines and Carson were both called up to the England Lions, while Jofra was taken on the tour as he continues his rehabilitation.
Ollie Robinson was also included in preparation for the games against Pakistan.
All four were in action this week as the England Lions played the England Men’s team in a three-day friendly at the Tolerance Oval, Abu Dhabi.
Both England and Sussex fans will be delighted to see Jof bowling in whites once again, as he aims to make his way back to full fitness and into the England team for next year’s Ashes series.
Both Tom Haines and Jack Carson made an impact at their first opportunity, with Haines making a brilliant 82 and Carson dismissing the current number one batsman in world Test cricket, Joe Root for 9.
Ollie Robinson, who returned to the England side in spectacular fashion this summer, helping them to a series win over South Africa and taking 12 wickets across two Tests, also got some crucial overs in the tank as he looks to continue his fine form on the international stage.
Robinson bowled 12 overs, picking up the wicket of Josh Bohannon.
