Supporters have the opportunity to vote for the winners of this year’s Men’s End of Season Awards.
Voting is now open via the online form at the bottom of this page and will close at 23:59 on Friday 23rd September. Awards will be presented in person at the conclusion of the third day against Glamorgan (Wednesday 28 September), or at the conclusion of the match – whichever is the earlier.
Please note: statistics are accurate as of Friday 9th September 2022.
Players and performances have been shortlisted in four categories:
1. Cheteshwar Pujara
Scoring 1094 runs at an average of 109.40 across 13 innings and a top score of 231 against Middlesex at Lord's whilst scoring two more double hundreds versus Durham and Derbyshire.
2. Tom Alsop
Scoring 778 runs at an average of 45.76, including three centuries and four fifties across 18 innings with a top score and joint career best of 150 against Leicestershire.
3. Ali Orr
Scoring 715 runs at an average of 44.69 with a top score and career best of 141 against Derbyshire whilst scoring another hundred and three further fifties.
1. Cheteshwar Pujara
Stand-in captain for the injured Tom Haines, Pujara hit an incredible 624 runs in nine innings, averaging 89.14 with a strike rate of 111.63. He captained the side to win six out of eight matches in the group stages.
2. Ari Karvelas
Joint top wicket taker in the Royal London Cup with 20 wickets, at an average of 19.45 and economy of 5.40 with best figures of 4-21 against Leicestershire.
3. Mohammad Rizwan
A brilliant Vitality Blast campaign for Rizwan where he made 275 runs in 7 innings, with an average of 45.83 at a strike rate of 143.98 and a high score of 81*. The wicket-keeper batsman also took seven catches and one stumping.
4. Ali Orr
Scoring 166 runs in just eight innings during the Vitality Blast at an average of 20.75 and strike rate of 161.16. During the One Day Cup he scored 526 runs with a career and Sussex high of 206 against Somerset, scoring at an average of 58.44 and strike rate of 99.62.
5. Tom Alsop
A career high List-A score of 189* and a total of 396 runs with an average of 66 and strike rate of 104.21 during the One Day Cup. Tom top scored in the Vitality Blast for the Sussex Sharks with 318 runs in 10 innings with a top score of 82, an average of 35.33 and strike rate of 152.88.
1. Ali Orr
Scoring 1407 runs (to date) during 2022 predominately opening the batting, with a high score of 206 in the Royal London Cup against Somerset.
2. Tom Clark
Scoring 984 runs and including three centuries and five fifties, Tom has also contributed with the ball taking 5 wickets with best figures of 3-21.
3. Oli Carter
Scoring 587 runs across all three formats, including a career high score of 185 versus Glamorgan and four further fifties. Behind the stumps Oli has taken 22 catches.
4. Sean Hunt
Taking 16 wickets across the Royal London Cup and LV= County Championship, the left arm seamer has bowled a total of 33 maidens with an average of 40.85 in the County Championship and 49.50 in the One Day Cup.
1. Ali Orr
Scoring 206 from 161 balls against Somerset at The Cooper Associates County Ground in the Royal London One Day Cup, the highest List A score in Sussex history.
2. Tom Haines
Scoring 243 from 490 balls against Derbyshire at The Incora County Ground after following-on to secure a draw.
3. Chestewar Pujara
Scoring 231 from 403 balls at Lord's versus Middlesex, hitting 21 fours and three sixes in the process.
4. Ari Karvelas
A devastating spell of bowling of 4-21 against the Leicestershire Foxes at the 1st Central County Ground to reduce them to 29/5.
5. Oli Carter
Scoring 185 from 289 balls in the first innings and following it up with 83 from 172 balls against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens.
