Twelve-year-old Teddy Birkbeck – the cousin of Sussex fast bowler Matthew Hobden who tragically died aged 22 in 2016 – has raised £2,400 for the Matthew Hobden Trust with an impressive feat of endurance.
Teddy was sponsored to run the 20 miles from Matthew’s grave at Chiddingly CC to The 1st Central County Ground, something he completed on Friday evening ahead of the rained off Vitality Blast match between Sussex Sharks and Somerset.
The Matthew Hobden Trust raises money for aspiring young cricketers, who have a talent and love for the sport, often providing kit and opportunities to help them fulfil their ambitions.
If you would like to add to the funds Teddy (himself a promising cricketer and part of the Somerset Academy) has raised for this wonderful cause, you can do so here.
Congratulations Teddy on a fantastic achievement and your brilliant tribute to the memory of Matthew.
