Sussex Women won two from two yesterday when they took on Bucks Cricket in the Women’s County T20 Regional competition.
Sussex Women began the competition with a double-header against Hampshire Pathways Women on Sunday 16th April, winning one and losing one, but this weekend they made it three wins in four matches to cement second place in the group.
In the first game yesterday, Bucks Cricket won the toss and elected to bat, with the Sussex bowling attack restricting them to 89-7 from their 20 overs.
Mary Taylor and Chiara Green were the pick of the Sussex bowlers, both taking two wickets for 12 runs with their allotted 4 overs.
In response, Sussex were able to chase down Bucks’ total in 17.4 overs, with Nicole Faltum top-scoring with 35 runs from 39 deliveries, giving Sussex a five wicket victory in the first.
In the second game, Sussex won the toss this time and put Bucks into bat.
Chiara Green was among the wickets once again, taking 2-15, along with Beth Harvey who also took 2 wickets to restrict Bucks to 95-8.
The Sussex top order made quick work of chasing the total down, only needing 16.2 overs this time around.
Nicole Faltum top scored with 32, and there were also valuable contributions from Izzy Collis (28) and Mary Taylor (18).
Those wins mean Sussex will face Berkshire in the second semi-final at The 1st Central County Ground this Sunday 14th May.
