Team news
Steven Finn is unavailable as he continues his rehabilitation programme from a knee injury.
George Garton is now clear from his concussion, however his return will be managed carefully, with his return set for next week against Gloucestershire.
Ari Karvelas returned to the Sussex 2nd XI this week against Hampshire, as he nears a return to full match fitness.
Farbrace’s thoughts
"This is another great opportunity for our players to play against a strong Yorkshire team and really show the skill and courage we have in our team.
"Having played well to beat a very good Durham team in the last game, we have everything to look forward to and enjoy playing against top teams and having fun doing it.
"James Coles is in the squad having had an excellent game last week in the second team match v Kent at Hove.
"It is all about putting in consistent performances in the second team that will get you into the first team.
"James has set a standard for others to follow if they want to play first team cricket."
Our opponents
Although relegated from Division One last year, Yorkshire are among the favourites to win Division Two this season, however they suffered a marginal defeat on day four of their first game of the season, losing out to Leicestershire by 3 wickets thanks for some heroics from Australian overseas signing, Peter Handscombe.
Yorkshire’s next game against Gloucestershire was abandoned due to heavy rain, without a ball being bowled.
The last time Sussex played Yorkshire was back in 2021, prior to the County Championship returning to a two-division setup, with Yorkshire winning by an innings and 30 runs at Headingly.
Danial Ibrahim made history in that game when he became the youngest ever player to score a half-century in the County Championship, at just 16 years of age.
Played for both
England and Sussex seamer Ollie Robinson signed his first ever professional cricket contract for Yorkshire back in 2013, before making Hove his home in 2015 after a brief stint at Hampshire.
