After a frustrating week with poor weather, Sussex finally kicked off day one of pre-season with a fine bowling performance against Exeter University.
Under new Head Coach Paul Farbrace bowled out their opponents for 117 at The 1st Central County Ground with Tom Haines taking an impressive 3-11 from 6.3 Overs.
Henry Crocombe dismissed Geffen for an early duck before Church and Connell had a short 37 run partnership before Church was caught by Orr off the bowling of Garton.
Connell top scored with 27 before being caught by Tom Alsop after nicking a Sean Hunt ball.
Tom Haines then quickly dispatched Baird and Buckingham before a poor communication mix up between Ingham-Hill and Bharadwaj saw a run out opportunity for Ollie Carter to dismiss Ingham-Hill, which he did.
Sean Hunt then picked up his second wicket of the day skittling Charlesworth for 4.
Bharadwaj added 26 from 26 balls before he was bowled by Fynn Hudson-Prentice.
Hudson-Prentice then bowled Maslen shortly after for 2 before Haines wrapped up the 10 wickets with the LBW of Lucas.
Sussex went into bat after the turnaround. Tom Haines went for 4 after clipping Turner to Charlesworth, Tom Alsop in next went for 8. He was caught by Geffen off the bowling of Turner.
Number 4 Tom Clark was when then caught and bowled by Turner, leaving Sussex 65/3 at tea with Orr 35* and Ibrahim 4* between the wickets going into the final session.
After tea, Orr was caught behind for 37 by a fantastic reaction take from Connell via a Church deflection.
Carter and Ibrahim put on a solid 62 run partnership before Ibrahim was caught off a Bharadwaj delivery.
Garton was next to fall to an LBW from Bharadwaj. Ollie Carter finished at the crease on 46* along with Fynn Hudson-Prentice 8*.
Bharadwaj closed with the best bowling figures for Exeter with 2-22 from 8 overs.
Sussex go into tomorrow with a 48-run lead and 4 wickets remaining.
