Sussex Cricket is delighted to announce that it has partnered with local hospice charity, Martlets and has sponsored its very own Shaun the Sheep which will be located at The 1st Central County Ground as part of their 2023 art trail.
The 1st Central County Ground will be one of 120 across Brighton & Hove that will have an individually designed Shaun the Sheep and Friends sculpture for people to visit as part of a brand-new art trail.
The Shaun the Sheep was designed by local artist, Chloe Batchelor, and will be officially installed on the 7th/8th of September.
Martlets is a local charity providing essential care to people affected by terminal illness in Brighton and Hove, and surrounding areas.
Their expert teams provide the very best care and support, helping patients and their loved ones to live life to the full during the precious time they have together.
Whilst the trail provides opportunities for local people to connect, it also aims to help raise awareness of the vital work that Martlets carry out.
As well as raising awareness for the Martlets, the trail will help to promote the work of the Sussex Cricket Foundation, the charitable arm of Sussex Cricket.
Speaking on the partnership, Sussex Cricket Foundation Community Director, Gary Wallis-Tayler, said: "Supporting our communities is extremely important to us at Sussex Cricket.
"The Martlets do an amazing job in the local community and we are delighted to be able to show our support to the Martlets by being involved in their Shaun the Sheep trail.
"By supporting a community based initiative and an iconic character, we hope it will drive plenty of visitors to The 1st Central County Ground who may become future supporters of the club or future players of the game.”
Claire Kidd, Head of Individual Giving and Community at Martlets said: "We are bowled over by Sussex Cricket’s baa-rilliant support of Shaun by the Sea.
“Their Shaun joins 120 other Shaun the Sheep sculptures that will be displayed across the city, representing the individuality and diversity of Brighton & Hove.
"Their sponsorship will involve our whole community, giving both our young people and our sponsors a ewe-nique opportunity to get involved in events at the The 1st Central County Ground.
“We are really excited for everyone to get involved when Shaun visits the city this autumn."
