Supporters can now bid on the one-off shirts that were worn in our recent Vitality Blast match against Hampshire Hawks, in aid of the Sussex Cricket Foundation’s Champions Fund.
The shirts were in action during the Sharks’ ‘el clasicoast’ win on 16th June live on Sky Sports and were created by kit supplier, Surridge Sport.
As well as taking victory in a match that went right down to the wire, the game will be remembered for Brad Currie taking one of the best catches in competition history, in a moment viewed by millions around the world.
In April, fans were able to pre-order a replica of the shirt. 120 were sold, with £5 from every sale being put towards Sussex Cricket Foundation’s Champions Fund.
The Champions Fund was set up in 2021 to help financially support players in our boys, girls and disability pathways and provides support towards the cost of programme, travel or kit and equipment costs.
The Sussex Cricket Foundation also ran different activations throughout the evening including in the FamZone next to the nets, where flagbearers from Aldwick Cricket Club were present. A matchday raffle also raised over £1,300 to support various Foundation initiatives.
Following the game, all shirts were personally signed by the players and are now available on our live shirt auction. All funds raised will go towards the Champions Fund.
Gary Wallis-Tayler, Community Cricket Director, said “It was fantastic to see the team wear this special shirt to promote the Foundation, which was positively received by players, staff and supporters.
“We hope this has helped amplify our story and raise awareness of the amazing work we do across Sussex to a wider audience. All funds raised will go towards supporting our Champions Fund, which is an important initiative to help break down any financial barriers that stop players of all abilities and genders accessing the game.
“I would like to thank the Club and the ECB for allowing us to do this and Surridge Sport for supporting the Foundation.”
