Squad named for RL50 opener at Trent Bridge

Head Coach Ian Salisbury has named a 16-person squad ahead of our opening match against Nottinghamshire in the Royal London Cup tomorrow.

Sussex take on Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge tomorrow, before back-to-back home games on Friday and Sunday at The 1st Central County Ground.

Tom Haines is unavailable for selection after breaking a bone in his hand in a County Championship fixture against Leicestershire.

Jamie Atkins, Jofra Archer, Jack Carson all remain unavailable whilst they continue their individual rehabilitation programmes.

Steven Finn is resting due to suffering some inflammation to the knee. 

George Garton is currently away with the Southern Brave, preparing for The Hundred.

Salisbury’s comments

“Everyone is looking forward to getting started in the Royal London Cup. We have Cheteshwar Pujara available, and he will be captaining the side in the absence of Tom.

“Puj has been brilliant for us in the County Championship and is a brilliant person to lead the team. Many of our exciting young players played in this competition last year, so they’ve all got some experience under their belts.

“We truly believe we will be competitive this year but we have to be aware that we are playing some extremely strong sides, but we are looking forward to the challenge and being involved in some exciting games."
