Last time out
New overseas signing Obed McCoy picked up 5 wickets on his Sharks debut, a performance that was particularly impressive considering he had only joined up with the team a day prior to the match.
Australian wicket-keeper batsman was in fine form with the bat as he made 70 runs from 43 balls, and there was also a captain’s performance from Ravi Bopara who made 48 and crucially slowed down Somerset’s run rate with the ball.
Speaking about his debut, McCoy said: “This has been my first experience of playing in England, my first experience of the Blast and it has been great for me.
“I think the secret to my wickets tonight was basically keeping the batsmen thinking and bowling a variation, the back of the hand, the slower ball and cutters, and keeping them on their toes.
“It’s my first fifer and to get it for Sussex on my debut, playing here in front of an English crowd, is great and very different from the IPL. It was a great atmosphere to be involved in.”
