Rashid Khan was back in action for the first time since the end of the Big Bash last week. He was part of the Afghanistan side that took a 2-0 lead in their three match T20I series against Ireland in India.
On Friday, the Sussex Sharks overseas star took 3 for 22 from four very economical overs as Ireland made 172 for 6 batting first at Greater Noida. Afghanistan were making good progress towards their target with 133 for 5 on the board after 15 overs. Rain then cut the match short, handing Afghanistan an 11-run win via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.
On Sunday, Afghanistan batted first at the same venue and racked up 184 for 4. Rashid was tidy once again with the ball, conceding 26 runs from his four overs and taking the wicket of captain Andrew Balbirnie as the Irish fell 22 runs short of their target.

Afghanistan will look to make it a whitewash when the series concludes – also at Greater Noida – on Tuesday.
The third – and penultimate – week of the Pakistan Super League saw four Sussex players competitng with their teams for a place in next week’s knock outs.
Chris Jordan played a key role in securing victory for Karachi Kings against his former side Peshawar Zalmi at Rawalpindi last Monday. The Kings put Peshawar into bat and restricted them to 151 for 8, with CJ picking up 2 for 33. The chase proved light work for Karachi’s batsmen who secured victory with six wickets and 11 balls to spare.
Only 16.5 overs of the Zalmi’s next match against table-toppers Multan Sultans on Friday were possible before rain forced an abandonment. CJ bowled one over for nine runs as the Sultans reached 102 for 6 before the weather intervened.
Ravi Bopara’s only appearance of the week came in that same match. He scored four from two balls batting at number five.
CJ was on the losing side in the Kings’ final game of the week, an eight-wicket defeat to Lahore Qalandars at Lahore on Sunday. Batting first, the Kings made what seemed a decent score of 187 for 5, with David Wiese executing a run out, taking a catch and bowling one over for 11 runs for the Qalandars. A 140-run partnership between Sohail Akhtar and Ben Dunk – who finished 99 not out – saw the home side to a comfortable eight-wicket victory with five balls to spare, however. CJ was one of the more economical bowlers for the Kings, but his four overs still cost 36 runs.

David was not required with bat or ball when the Qalandars crushed Quetta Gladiators by eight wickets on a day earlier. Quetta could only limp to 98 for 2 batting first, a total that Lahore knocked off in the 12th over.
Tymal Mills missed that game but was in the Gladiators side that took on Peshawar Zalmi at Rawalpindi on Thursday. Tymal bowled three overs for 33 runs as the Zalmi made 170 for 6 batting first in a match reduced to 15 overs per side. Quetta made a good start to their chase, but regular wickets outside the first powerplay saw them fall 31 runs short of a much-needed victory.
After eight games, the Gladiators are bottom of the table but by no means out of contention for the knock-outs. Ravi and the Multan Sultans are best placed at the top of the group, CJ’s Kings are fourth and David’s Qalandars are fifth out of six. Four teams will progress to the knock-outs.
Danni Wyatt’s ICC Women’s World T20 with England ended in heartbreak as their semi-final against India at the SCG was washed out. With no reserve day, India progressed to the final, where they suffered a heavy defeat to Australia who had overcome South Africa in the second semi.
Also in Australia, Travis Head’s South Australia welcome Victoria to the Adelaide Oval last week. Victoria gained a 78-run first innings lead after bowling the home side out for 214, with Travis scoring 16 at number four. The visitors strengthened their grip on the game by scoring 320 for 6 in their second innings, with Travis picking up the wicket of Matthew Short with his off-spin. Set 399 to win, South Australia were dismissed for 216. Travis top-scored with 60.
