Following the conclusion of the 2018 women’s county season, Jimmy Anyon has stepped down from his role as Sussex Women’s head coach.
Jimmy is now undertaking his role as a cricket professional at Hurstpierpoint College on a full-time basis, meaning he is no longer able to commit the time required to coaching the county’s women’s team.
The former Sussex seamer, who took over 200 wickets for the club during his five years as a player, said: “I’ve had a brilliant time coaching the women over the past two seasons.
“After the disappointment of relegation in 2017, my aim was to help the side back into the top flight of the Championship this year, which they did in style. I can pass the baton on to someone else now knowing the team are back where they belong.
“A second-place finish in the T20 competition with a young-side was an added bonus. The development of our youngsters over the past couple of years has definitely been one of the highlights of my time looking after the women and I’m looking forward to them progressing further in the years to come.”
Sussex’s Director of Cricket had this to say about Jimmy’s time in charge: “Jimmy has done a fantastic job of leading the women and after a successful 2018 season he leaves his role with the squad in good shape.
“We’ll still see the benefits of Jimmy’s coaching as he’ll continues to work with our junior squads.
“I’d like to thank Jimmy for all his hard work over the past two seasons and wish him all the best as he takes on his full-time role at Hurst.
“We’ll be beginning the process to find a replacement head coach of our women’s team shortly.”
