The quarter-finals of our inaugural Innings World Cup have been confirmed, after Phil Salt secured his second spot in the last eight on Monday.
Salt’s imperious 134 vs. Kent joins his 148 off just 138 balls against Derbyshire, Luke Wright’s 92 at Finals Day and 166 vs. Middlesex, Ben Brown’s memorable ton at Lord’s, Laurie Evans’ stunning 110 vs. Glamorgan, Tom Haines’ maiden first-class century and David Wiese’s record-breaking 171 vs. Hampshire in the next round.
The list of innings, which were chosen as the best played by Sussex batsmen since Jason Gillespie arrived at the club, received over 12,000 video views and more than 1,000 votes over the last week.
The quest to find the best innings played during ‘The Dizzy Years’ continues on Wednesday, with the first quarter-final seeing Salt’s 148 vs. Derbyshire take on Evans’ 110 against Glamorgan. Voting will open at 10am on Twitter.
