Ian Cox has been appointed Southern Vipers’ Senior Regional Talent Manager.
Cox, who has worked for Sussex Cricket since 2011, has been heavily involved with the girls programme across our county since 2016.
Most recently, Cox was Head Coach of the Sussex Girls Academy and EPP programme, and was Assistant Head Coach of the women’s first team.
Upon being offered the role, Cox said: “I’m absolutely thrilled and can’t wait to get started.
“It’s clear to me that the Southern Vipers culture and the people involved within the organisation will ensure an outstanding environment that will enable everyone to thrive and develop.
“The women’s game is moving forward quickly so to have the opportunity to work with the most talented and high potential players throughout our region is extremely exciting.”
Adam Carty, Regional Director of Women’s Cricket at Southern Vipers, added: “When we went to market, we aspired to secure a person who offered knowledge, experience, enthusiasm, communicative ability, innovation, integrity and a passion to develop & support others toward them achieving their goals, aspirations & full potential! In Ian Cox we have that candidate.
“He lives and breathes the game and in my opinion, for many years, has consistently demonstrated best practise as an engaging and forward thinking lead coach within the Women & Girls game.
“I feel lucky to have him on board as Senior Regional Talent Manager and I am confident that the Southern Vipers Academy & all counties within our southern central region will reap the benefits of his involvement.”
Cox will begin his new role immediately, with his first task being to build relations with the Performance Leads across the seven “Viper Territory” counties.
He will then look to orchestrate & undertake a period of Viper Academy assessments to all those nominated from across the region ahead of a January Academy launch.
