Captain Harry Finch battled his way to an unbeaten century to secure a draw for Sussex in their Second Eleven Championship match against Glamorgan at Horsham this week.
Sussex began their second innings 322 runs behind Glamorgan and in danger of an innings defeat, but Finch’s 227-ball effort made in just under five and a half hours ensured the visitors were frustrated.
Finch was supported by Elliot Hooper who made a 122-ball 59 and Alastair Orr with an unbeaten 39 from 144 balls as Sussex made it to the close on 274 for 5.
Earlier in the match, Sussex had been bundled out for 179 having won the toss and batted first. Harrison Ward top-scored with 65, but Finch (31) and Nick Oxley (30*) were the only other players to make it to 30.
Glamorgan racked up a mammoth 501 for 4 declared in reply, with three batsmen making centuries. Academy player, Henry Crocombe was the pick of a young Sussex attack, taking 2 for 64 from 20 overs. There was one wicket each for Jordan Shaw and Oxley.
