Following the news that Travis Head's contract with Sussex has been deferred until 2021, head coach, Jason Gillespie spoke to BBC Radio Sussex reporter, Adrian Harms.
Head, who has worked with Dizzy at Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash, will be available for all formats upon his arrival next year.
Gillespie said: "I think it's a great coup for us as a club to have someone of Travis' calibre. Trav's keen to forge a longer-term relationship with the club, and we are too. I think that would be great.
"I'm a big believer in that - I think the positives are great. If you think in the past, you identified international cricketers with counties, and we'd love people to identify Travis Head as not only a South Australian player, but a Sussex cricketer too.
"I think that would be fantastic for our fans, our supporters, everyone involved in the club to know that Travis Head is a Sussex player going forward.
"He's a fine young player, he's shown what he can do on the international stage and hopefully he can bring that form and success to Sussex.
"We have to take into account the international schedule, but all things being equal, we'll endeavour to have Travis as a long-term player for us."
Gillespie also spoke to Adrian Harms about the Sussex players called into England's 55-man training group, how he's keeping in touch with the rest of the squad and more. You can listen to the full interview here.
