Sussex Women’s captain, Georgia Adams, and Sussex Cricket affiliated club, Crawley Eagles CC have been shortlisted for the Sussex Sports Award 2021, organised by Active Sussex.
Georgia is one of three finalists in the Sports Personality of the Year award, given to a sportsman or woman who has displayed an outstanding level of achievement over the last year either as an individual or as part of a team and is competing at a consistently high level in their chosen sport. Georgia is recognised for her achievements with Sussex, Southern Vipers and The Hundred team, Oval Invincibles.
Crawley Eagles are shortlisted for the Rix & Kay Solicitors LLP Inclusion & Diversity Award which recognises a project or organisation which has tackled inequalities through sport and physical activity. It will have removed barriers and improved participant’s experience of sport/physical activity. It will have championed, inspired or empowered underrepresented groups, resulting in sustained or increased engagement over the past 12 months.
Reacting to the nominations, Sussex Cricket’s Community Director, Gary Wallis-Tayler said: “We are delighted that Georgia & the team at Crawley Eagles have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards.
“The continued recognition of cricket in Sussex shows how strong the game is in our county and how it continues to grow by inspiring new players and providing them with opportunities to play the game.
“We wish Georgia and Crawley Eagles the best of luck when the awards are announced later this month.”
There are five awards in total, the winners of which will be named at a ceremony at The 1st Central County Ground on Thursday 25th November.
