There was no talk of early lunches and afternoon inspections at The 1st Central County Ground today, on what should have been the fourth and final day’s play in the Specsavers County Championship Division Two match between Sussex and Worcestershire.
More heavy overnight and early morning rain put paid to any chance of play on Thursday, so not a ball was bowled on either of the final two days. At least Sussex were able to make an early start to their end of season awards in the pavilion!
The abandonment meant George Garton was unable to build on the impressive fifty he scored on day two, while Ollie Robinson also finished unbeaten on nought.
Both teams take five points for the draw, with Sussex gaining an extra two bonus batting points.
