Sussex Cricket are pleased to announce that Daniel Oliver has been appointed as the club’s new Vice-Chair.
Oliver, who has been a Sussex Cricket Board director since 2011, is also Vice-Chair of the Sussex Cricket League and previously chaired the Sussex Premier League.
Oliver succeeds Simon Crundwell, who recently stepped down after three years as Vice-Chair at Sussex Cricket and 12 years as a board member, while former club captain, Johnny Barclay has also stepped down as a board member.
The SCL Board of Directors has taken the decision not to replace their positions, following a resolution passed at the 2018 Special General Meeting which was aimed at reducing the number of Board Directors from ten to six.
Sussex Cricket Chair, Bob Warren said: “Thank you to Simon Crundwell and Johnny Barclay for their hard work over the last few years.
“Simon will continue to give us the benefit of his skills in ensuring that the development plans for Hove remain on schedule and on budget, while I’m happy to inform members that Johnny will immediately become a Trustee of the Sussex Cricket Foundation.
“I am delighted to have Daniel Oliver appointed as my Vice-Chair, and look forward to working alongside him.”
Meanwhile, Martin Richards has been re-elected to the board on behalf of individual members for another term of three years. His nomination was proposed by Barclay and seconded by M Robertson, and was considered entirely appropriate by The Nominations and Elections Committee.
A Sussex Cricket board member since 2017, Richards is also Chair of Chichester Diocese Independent Safeguarding Panel and on the board of directors for the British Transport Policy Authority. He previously held the position of Chief Constable at Sussex Police.
In addition to the appointment of Oliver and the re-election of Richards, Sussex Cricket are also pleased to welcome both Jacqui Bandy and Bibi Lees as Independent Non-Executive Directors, following another stringent recruitment process overseen by the Nominations and Elections Committee.
Bandy is a Communications and Engagement Manager with the Environmental Agency, and is heavily involved in recreational cricket, having played cricket at club level before taking on the role of secretary at Henfield CC.
Lees, who is a partner and Head of Private Client Department at Adam and Remers, is also heavily involved in cricket at a grassroots level with both of her children active members of St Peters CC.
Warren said: “I welcome Jacqui Bandy and Bibi Lees to our Board as independent directors.
“With the re-election of Martin Richards and the addition of new the two independent directors, we are moving ever closer to the Sport England recommendations on Governance and Diversity.”
