Burgess Hill CC have booked their place in the ECB Vitality Girls U13 Club T20 South East Final, effectively the quarter final of the national competition, with another superb all-round performance away to Ham & Petersham CC.

Having travelled to a different venue in every round, Burgess Hill arrived on a fast outfield and green wicket before the hosts chose to bat first.

Ham & Petersham made an explosive start, reaching 26 from the opening two overs, but the game turned dramatically when Jess produced one of the moments of the season. She trapped the opener LBW before delivering two superb yorkers to complete a hat-trick maiden, reducing the hosts to 31-3. Jess soon added a fourth wicket as Burgess Hill seized control.

The home side fought back brilliantly through the outstanding Khan, whose aggressive batting lifted Ham & Petersham to 84-4 at halfway. Burgess Hill responded with excellent tactical awareness, protecting the boundary while rotating their field to limit Khan’s scoring opportunities.

Neve then bowled a superb four-over spell, conceding just six runs, while Violet and Jess combined for an important run out. Khan threatened another late surge before Neve produced a stunning catch on the boundary to dismiss the dangerous batter, a defining moment that prevented the hosts posting a much bigger total. Violet completed another run out as Ham & Petersham were dismissed for 126.

Needing 127, Burgess Hill made the perfect start through Neve and Violet, who combined patience with positive strokeplay to reach 50 without loss. Neve made an excellent 25 before Cora joined Violet to keep the chase firmly on track.

After Violet departed with the score on 90, Evie arrived and immediately swung the momentum back with a fearless unbeaten 23 from just 12 balls, including five boundaries. Alongside the composed Cora (25*), she guided Burgess Hill home with two overs to spare.

Player of the Match went to Neve Felton for her outstanding all-round display, including miserly bowling, a spectacular catch and a valuable 25 at the top of the order. Special praise also goes to Jess, whose memorable hat-trick and four wickets proved pivotal in the victory.

Credit must also go to Ham & Petersham, whose young side, led by the impressive Khan, showed great quality throughout.
