Bertie Foreman signs rookie contract

28 Oct 2022

Sussex Cricket is delighted to announce that academy spinner Bertie Foreman has signed a rookie contract with the Club.

The 18-year-old spinner has made numerous appearances for the Sussex 2nd XI last season and was also selected for the U19s Young Lions squad for a two match Test series against Sri Lanka U19s in August.

His grandfather Denis Foreman played football for Brighton & Hove Albion, as well as playing cricket for Sussex in the 1950s and 60s, and Bertie is looking forward to getting the opportunity to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and represent his local County.

Bertie said: “I am really happy to have signed for my childhood club, I have been here since I was 8 years old, so it means a lot.

“It also means a lot to my family as my grandfather also played here, so I am looking forward to the challenge of making my way into the first team, just as he did.”

Sussex Performance Director, Keith Greenfield, added: "It is great news that Bertie has signed his first deal with the Club. He is developing quickly into a an exciting off-spinning all-rounder and has a bright future ahead of him.

"He will bring additional competition into our squad and we look forward to continuing his development in the years to come."
