150 years ago, in 1872, as properties were beginning to be developed on the seafront at Hove, Sussex County Cricket Club moved from its ground closer to the sea to what was then a farmer’s field 800 yards inland. The first game at the ground was played from 6 to 8 June against Gloucestershire, whose team included WG Grace. Sadly, the game was badly affected by rain and not even the first innings of the match were completed.
We are pleased to announce that on Monday 27 June we are celebrating 150 Years at what we now know as The 1st Central County Ground with a very special dinner hosted by our President John Barclay, where the guest of honour will be MCC President, Clare Connor.
Tickets for the dinner, which includes a three-course meal, are priced at £85 per person. Tables of ten are also available for £800. Tickets can be booked online by clicking here.
