WOMEN & GIRLS CLUB CRICKET

Women & Girls club cricket continues to develop and grow in Sussex, with over 65 clubs with a Women and/or girls section across the County. 

The Sussex Cricket Foundation run leagues for Women and Girls throughout the Winter and Summer for all ages. 

During the winter we currently run the following leagues, which are all 6 a-side 

  • U11 West Area Soft Ball Indoor League 
  • U13 Hard Ball Indoor League 
  • U15 Hard Ball Indoor League 
  • Women’s Soft Ball Indoor Leagues 
  • Women’s Hard Ball Indoor League 

Entries for the 2022/2023 Indoor Leagues are now closed, however if you are interested in entering a side in the winter of 2023/24 or require further information, please email our Women and Girls Development Officer, Charlotte Burton (email address at the bottom of the page)

During the summer we provide girls soft ball 6-a-side festivals at U9 and U11, along with an ECB U11 and U13 soft ball one day tournament. Entries for these soft ball festivals are open throughout the year for clubs. Further details of dates and venues will be put on this page during the spring/summer.  

At junior club level we run the following leagues for girls which can be entered during the winter on the Sussex Cricket Foundation affiliation form: 

  • U11 Soft Ball League – 8 a-side, pairs cricket, played on Wednesday evenings 
  • U11 Hard Ball League – 8 a-side, pairs cricket 
  • U13 Soft Ball League – 8 a-side, pairs cricket, played Tuesday evenings 
  • U13 Hard Ball League – First half 8 a-side pairs, second half 9 a-side 16-20 overs, played on Tuesday evenings. 
  • U15 Hard Ball League – 9 a-side, 16 – 20 overs, played on Thursday evenings 
  • U17 Hard Ball League – 9 a-side, 16 – 20 overs, played on Thursday evenings 

The U11 soft ball league, U13 and U15 hard ball league winners will progress to the Southern Counties Regional Final on Sunday 27th August 2023. 

The Sussex Junior Cricket Festival run an U11 soft ball, U13, U15 and U17 hard ball festivals throughout the summer holidays. 

The ECB hold a T20 knockout competition for U13, U15 and U19, entry for these close at the end of January, please contact Charlotte Burton for more information on this. 

For clubs with Women’s teams, we hold the following leagues/competitions throughout the summer: 

  • Women’s Soft Ball Super Series 
  • Women’s Soft Ball League 
  • Women’s Sussex Slam 
  • Sussex Women’s Premier League 
  • Sussex Women’s Division 1 League 

To enter the Women’s soft ball super series and soft ball league, entries can be found on the club affiliation form. Entries for the Sussex Women’s premier league and Division 1 are now closed for 2023, if you want further information or wish to enter a side in 2024 to the Division 1 league, please contact Charlotte Burton.
