24 Jun 2019

After winning the toss, Sussex batted first and reached 124 for 3 from their 20 overs. Opener, Georgia Elwiss played a sublime innings, contributing an unbeaten 80 from 63 balls to the total.

Elwiss was the star with the ball as well, taking 4 for 16 from her four overs to help reduce Wales to 44 for 6.

A 54-run partnership for the seventh wicket raised the tension, before Freya Davies took the vital wicket of top-scorer Danielle Gibson via the hands of Ella McCaughan.

That halted Wales’ momentum and they ended  on 112 for 7. Tara Norris was Sussex’s other wicket-taker, with 2 for 21 from her allocation.
