Sussex Cricket is delighted to announce an extension of its partnership with market leading technology provider, Webtrends Optimize, to cover the county’s Disability Cricket squads.
The two-year deal will see Webtrends Optimize sponsor the shirts for both the Sussex D40 (Disability Cricket) and Sussex VI (Visually Impaired) Sharks squads for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
The D40 squad represent Sussex in the D40 Pursuit competition in the ECB’s National Disabled Cricket League. The VI Sharks represent Sussex in the BCEW (Blind Cricket England & Wales) National League Division 1.
This new investment will ensure both squads have access to the coaching and resources needed to ensure success on the pitch and raise the profile of Disability Cricket across Sussex and beyond. Both squads now have regular access to world class training facilities at the Aerotron Indoor School. The VI Sharks play their home fixtures at Blackstone, whilst this season will see the D40 Squad play a home fixture at The 1st Central County Ground for the very first time on Sunday 19th June against Surrey.
Reacting to the new deal, Sussex Cricket’s Community Cricket Director, Gary Wallis-Tayler said: “We’re delighted that Webtrends Optimize are providing such invaluable support to our County Disability squads. Continuing to raise the profile of Disability Cricket over the next two years is an area we have prioritized in our strategy. This exciting partnership will make a significant contribution to achieving this aim. Having the opportunity to play our first ever County Disability fixture at Hove, is hopefully the first of many exciting developments to come.”
Matt Smith, CEO of Webtrends Optimize, said: “I love and I’m proud of our partnership with Sussex Cricket. We’re delighted to be able to extend our support to the County Disability programme and do what we can to help them to grow and raise the profile of the D40 and VI Sharks teams. Three of our directors, myself included, call Sussex home, so we all feel that additional bond to the club. We all can’t wait to come and cheer the team on in their first match at the 1st Central County Ground in Hove.”
Aroop Tanna, Disability Cricket Manager at Sussex Cricket said: “Our partnership with Webtrends Optimize provides us with a great platform to grow both the D40 and VI Sharks squads. As well as providing our players with access to better coaching, equipment and training facilities, playing home fixtures at Hove and Blackstone gives our disability squads the same opportunities to represent the club as any of our teams. This will inevitably help us attract new playing talent from the Sussex club network.”
