Alexia Walker’s side go into the semi-final in fine form although they face a side in Surrey that were the only team to beat them in the group stages, but nonetheless Walker is confident the team can be successful: “I am delighted that we won five out of six games, the Southern Vipers have been incredibly supportive and allowed their professional and academy players to come in and contribute to our success in the group stage.

“We also couldn’t have got to Finals Day without the help of our younger players who have stepped up this year when needed, we’ve used 18 players so it’s been a real squad effort.”

Walker continued: “The girls are extremely excited; they all love to put on that pink shirt and represent their county. There is also the added bonus this year of competing for the T20 title, whereas in previous years we played in a round-robin format.”

Speaking on her pride of what the team have achieved so far, Sussex Captain, Georgia Adams said: “I am so proud of the Sussex squad to have finished top of the group heading into Finals Day tomorrow, with a constant flow of players coming in and out of the squad we have shown the depth of talent that we have and it’s been so pleasing to see some of our younger players step up and put in key performances in critical moments in the absence of senior players.

“We have an incredibly strong squad available tomorrow so we can back ourselves to go out there and play with confidence and positivity, we will be gunning for a spot in the final and I can’t wait to take to the pitch with the girls tomorrow.”

England international, Georgia Elwiss added: “We are hugely excited by reaching Finals Day and the chance to play some knockout cricket against a strong Surrey side. I’m confident if we play our best cricket we can stake a strong claim for the trophy.”
