Sussex Cricket Foundation are proud to be supporting the inaugural Specsavers Virtual Sussex Schools Games, which start on Monday 27 April.
Cricket is one of eleven sports to be included in the competition, with children from across the county representing their school in a different sport each week.
On Monday's during the summer term, a new sport will be launched, made up of four physical or technical sporting personal challenges, which can be done from the living room, garden, or school.
Over 500 children from across Sussex have signed up for the competition, ready to take part alongside friends and teammates from school, win medals, trophies and prizes, and strive to be the very best they can in this very special, virtual competition.
Throughout the week, participants can practice, train and improve, before submitting their best scores in each challenge on www.sussexschoolgames.co.uk ahead of the Friday deadline (12pm midday). Scores will then be combined to form a school total.
A school’s total score will be calculated by taking the average of score submissions, so it doesn’t matter whether if participants are at a small school or a huge school. Children representing the winning schools will be awarded with, much-coveted, Specsavers Sussex School Games medals, as well as earning points for the overall leaderboards.
In addition to the leaderboards, schools can also win Spirit of the Games awards for getting the most participants involved in each sport. There will also be some special prizes to give out on social media each week to those who are training hard and embracing the School Games values.
And it doesn’t stop there! As well as crowning separate Primary and Secondary school champions, we also have trophies in the ‘Active Adults’ category, meaning that big kids (teachers, parents, carers and family-members) can all get involved and represent the school too.
It all kicks off at 9:15am on Monday 27 April with the ‘Virtual’ Opening Ceremony and launch of the first sport. Get updates, challenges and results direct to your inbox by signing up here.
