Sussex Cricket squad members Charlie Tear and Brad Currie starred for Scotland this week as they secured their first points of their ICC CWCL2 Campaign with an eight-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates in Dubai.
Scotland reduced the UAE to 132 in 45 overs with Brad Currie taking 3-21 from 9 overs. Currie took 2 wickets in his opening spell removing Khan and Sharafu before dismissing tail-ender Bhatia for 2. The Sussex duo also both took a catch each of the bowling of Brad’s brother Scott.
Tear made his debut replacing Andy Umeed after he broke his finger in the opening loss to Canada and did not disappoint as he hit an unbeaten half century 54* from 68 balls and sent a 6 over the ropes to see Scotland home for the victory as they finished on 137-2 from 23.4 overs.
Charlie Tear speaking to Cricket Scotland said: “I’m very happy. The most important thing was to get the result, but getting my first fifty for Scotland is really special, so I’m not taking it for granted! To get the win so emphatically as well, it’s really pleasing for the whole group.”
Scotland prepare to reface Canada on Thursday. Currie and Tear will be raring to go with both high in confidence looking for revenge after last Fridays defeat.
