On Friday 12th August the Sussex Cricket Foundation hosted their annual Workplace B’Ashes, at The 1st Central County Ground, Hove.
The event saw 16 local businesses take to the field to compete in softball cricket matches run by Sussex Cricket Foundation coaches.
The 16 teams were split into 4 groups, all playing 3 matches with the winners of each group progressing to the Semi Finals. Ridgeview, Dotsquares A & B and Inventive Search all progressed to the Semi Finals having won their groups.
Ridgeview defeated Dotsquares ‘B’ before Dotsquares ‘A’ defeated Inventive Search to set up the final.
The final was played in good spirit and was close all the way throughout, but Ridgeview edged it in their debut appearance at the B’Ashes to become the 2022 Champions.
The event raises money to put towards Foundation initiatives, which are aimed to help change lives through the power of cricket.
This year’s event raised more than £1,200, a sum which will be put towards supporting a project with The Royal Alexander Children’s Hospital.
Gary Wallis-Tayler, Community Cricket Director “It was another fantastic Workplace B’Ashes, which has raised money for us to be able to put towards our planned work with The Royal Alexander Children’s Hospital.
“I’d like to thank the 16 teams that have taken part today to support the Foundation and hope everyone returns for our 2023 event. Special mention to Ridgeview on winning the event in their very first B’Ashes appearance!”
A special thank you goes to major club sponsors Dafabet, who kindly donated their ground usage to the Foundation to run this event. Everyone at the Sussex Cricket Foundation is extremely appreciative of the generous gesture.
