The Metro Bank One Day Cup gets underway tomorrow at 11am at The 1st Central County Ground, with the Sussex Sharks hosting Durham in the competition opener.
Paul Farbrace has named a 14-player squad for the first game of the tournament, including the returning Cheteshwar Pujara.
Squad
Alsop, Carson, Carter (wk), Clark, Coles, Crocombe, Currie, Finn, Haines (c), Hudson-Prentice, Karvelas, Lenham, Pujara, Ward
Team news
Ali Orr is nearing a return to the squad following a knee injury. George Garton is playing in The Hundred.
Farbrace's thoughts
"We are all really looking forward to starting of this 50 over competition, and with the start of this competition comes an extra layer of pressure we perhaps haven’t had with the other two formats.
"Having reached the semi final last year and having a pretty much full squad except for George Garton, playing in the Hundred, we are expected to do well and the minimum we should be expecting is to reach the knockout stage of the competition.
"It is brilliant having Steve Finn back in the middle, and having his experience on the field is huge for us, that coupled with Cheteshwar being back and playing, means we have balanced experience on the field.
"We have an excellent run in to the start of the Durham game, a week without games last week, two matches against National County opposition in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, and chance to have full weeks practice this week, so no excuses about schedules or being tired."
