Sussex begin their Vitality Women’s County T20 on Sunday with matches against Middlesex and Hampshire on Sunday at Mill Hill School.
A third-place finish in the Championship which was sealed with a comprehensive victory over competition winners Kent will no doubt mean confidence is high within the squad, but Sussex will know they face a stern test in the opening round of matches of the T20 competition.
Middlesex are the title holders, while Hampshire won the second division in 2018, the same season that they were crowned County Champions.
Sussex, however, have enjoyed recent success in the format as well. They finished as division one runners up last year, having finished third in the season before.
Looking ahead to the second part of the season, Sussex head coach Alexia Walker said: “The squad is really excited about the start of the T20 competition.
“After such a positive performance in our final 50 over match we are hoping to continue to play exciting cricket as we enter the shorter format part of the season.”
Sussex will be without Sarah Taylor and Danni Wyatt for Sunday’s matches. They are away on England duty.
The match versus Middlesex starts at 10.30am, with the Hampshire game following at 1.30pm.
