Steve Finn became the 149th Sussex player to be awarded his county cap before the start of play against Nottinghamshire this morning.
Steve Finn’s career to date has been nothing short of spectacular, the right arm fast bowler is the quickest English player ever to 100 test wickets, has featured in three winning Ashes teams and has also taken nearly 600 first-class wickets.
Commenting on the decision to award Steve Finn his county cap, Performance Director Keith Greenfield said: “Steve not only brings his vast cricketing experience to the club, but he has also demonstrated what a high-quality person and role model he is.
“He clearly exceeds all of the criteria that we set when deciding who to award county caps to, and we are delighted that he has become the 149th capped player of this great club.”
Head Coach, Ian Salisbury added: “Finn has been a fantastic addition to this squad already, not only does he bring tremendous skill and experience to the table, but above all he is a fantastic person.
“As soon as we spoke to him about coming down to Hove, he showed great excitement and enthusiasm for the project we have in place. Kirts and I are delighted to be able to award Finn his county cap.”
Tom Alsop was awarded a match cap for making his first-class debut with Sussex, as he and Finn became the 771st and 772nd players to play for Sussex in a competitive game.
