Sussex’s final match of the summer comes in the LV= Insurance County Championship against Derbyshire starting at The 1st Central County Ground on Tuesday.
There is plenty riding on the match with both teams looking to avoid a bottom place finish in Division 3. Sussex are currently bottom of the pile with 25 points but are only 2.5 points behind this week's visitors.
Sussex’s Championship and One-Day Head Coach Ian Salisbury has named a 13-man squad for the fixture. Harrison Ward returns after missing the last two matches, Dan Ibrahim is included after returning from England U19 duty and Jamie Atkins is in line for his first appearance since injuring his shoulder in July.
Fynn Hudson-Prentice suffered a broken bone in his hand during the Leicestershire match but would not have been available for this week’s fixture in any case as per the terms of his loan from Derbyshire. Tom Clark (knee) remains unavailable through injury. George Garton and Chris Jordan have now departed for the Indian Premier League.
Sussex skipper Tom Haines will have his eyes on finishing the summer as the Championship’s leading run-scorer. An incredible season has brought the opener 1132 runs at an average of just shy of 50. Going into the final round, Tom has 117 more runs than his nearest rival, Sam Robson of Middlesex.
Sussex squad

Opposition
Finishing bottom of Group 1 (P10, W0, L5, D4) and currently fifth in Division 3, Derbyshire are the only county without a win in this year’s Championship. In their three divisional matches, the side have suffered heavy defeats against Middlesex and Kent and held on for a draw against Leicestershire after following on.
Matt Critchley is Derbyshire’s leading run-scorer and sixth in the country overall with 900 from his 24 innings. That haul has included seven fifties and one century, which came against Worcestershire in April. Next on Derbyshire’s list is Wayne Madsen, with 564 runs.
In his first full season, 22-year-old seamer Ben Aitchison is the county’s top wicket-taker with 30 dismissals at an average of 23. Critchley has taken 28 wickets with his leg-breaks and seamer Sam Conners has 26.
